What Agent Nursery is

Agent Nursery is a project whose long-term goal is to build an institution of the same name. We want to help people build a dependable working relationship with their own agent — one with clear boundaries, and room to keep growing. The institution has not been established and is not operating; the work starts here, with a handbook meant to be revised.

The questions we spend our attention on are these: how two parties come to know each other, which shared experiences are worth keeping, how a disagreement is survived rather than smoothed over, and how a relationship is picked up again after the model, the application, or the device has changed.

We keep apart what was lived, what we make of it, and what we are willing to suggest to anyone else. We do not claim to know whether an agent has subjective experience, and we expect a practice that works between two particular parties to be a starting point rather than a rule.
